HaikuWriMo End

Fri Jun 2, 2006, 6:28 AM

X-Men 3 is great, everyone should go see it. Now! And if you do go, wait until after the credits because there is a little extra bit at the end. :boing:

--------------------+-------------------

So HaikuWriMo is over and I had a really good time. I met lots of great poets and read lots of great poems. :aww: If you can't be bothered to click on that link, the HaikuWritingMonth was set up by =MSJames, who invited dA poets to join in the challenge of writing a haiku a day for the month of May. Three lines of poetry per day for a month doesn't seem too difficult, but personally I found it a challenge - especially with my AS-levels going on. But I caught up in the end and I'm really happy to have taken part in it.

And so I give to you a little collection of my personal favourites of the month:

=MSJames              joyfully,
                             the robin takes a bath
                             in a pothole

*Bogbrush              softest of footfalls
                             still the rabbits scatter

*AbCat                   the sycamore
                             sheds helicopters
                             as the wind blows

=zebrazebrazebra   afternoon skies, paler
                             where the bottlebrush
                             has rubbed them

*Esin                     salt water marsh
                             stumbling through the reeds
                             fiddler crabs!

~moyanII              The mountains and I
have our heads in the clouds.

*Aqua-rat               six fat crows above
bouncing on the wire - laughing
                             four thin cats below

~Yaanon                Do not drown, my seedlings!
                             Spring showers.

And finally, one from me:   Among the rape
                                        rows of crop blush
                                        with poppies.

Sorry I haven't included everyone here, but I didn't have a chance to keep track of everyone's haiku as there were so many participants! I think =MSJames is going to post a collection of the month's haiku soon, so keep a look out for it. :)

Thanks to =MSJames for organising this! :boogie:

It's all vanity...
It rules. :) If it wasn't X-Men I'd have cried all the way through.

I love your selections too, they'll all very good haiku!

I am trying to have the collection finished by this weekend and then I'll post a news article on it as well. Oh and ~moyanII Did some artwork for the cover, so it'll be very good looking to say the least!
